July 2006 Fishing Report

FISHING REPORT FOR JULY 15TH WEEKEND

Good fishing was had by most boats this last weekend. Best fishing was south from the 13's to the 7's (watch the nets in the 7's). Most fish were between the 50 to 70 foot down over 70 to 100 FOW early. When full sun hit the water, 120 to 212 FOW was the ticket. Riggers were mostly silent with most fish coming on dipseys and full cores of lead, As usual, Capt. John's 12" Reel Flashers, BTI's, and meat heads did the trick for our charter group. These and herring are available at Pilgrim's Village in Cadillac.

July 22nd and 23rd

Manistee was HOT this weekend. You would think it was August. We had the pleasure of chartering for Salmon Ray and his brand new bride Salmon Tammy on Sunday the 23rd. SalmonRay is a member of the message board and veteran of Capt John's on the water seminars." We had our limit by 0730 and while trying to pull lines,we caught three more, including this 22 lb. King. Every meat rig was hot, two fly froggy and BTI, Mean Green and King Kryptonite, too name just afew. The all week north wind set up the break at 40 feet and fish came from 40 down to 55 down over 90 to 120 FOW. We are doing a TV shoot next weekend with Gammy Creek Outdoors, on the outdoor channel. It will air this winter. Look for Capt. John's products to shine.

Saturday July 29 2006

Fish are well north to the 19 to 23 line 90 to 120 FOW down. Capt John's meat rigs with Reel Flashers were the ticket. We got the heaviest box of the year. The run might come early.
